Dr Smith has been in General Practice in Renmark since 1985. He has an interest in obstetrics and sports medicine. He co-ordinates the Flinders PRCC medical students in Renmark.  He has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Renmark Football Club for many years. He is also involved in the Renmark and Paringa Health Advisory Council.

 

Dr Chris Muecke

Dr Chris Muecke
BMBS, DRANZCOG, FACRRM

Dr Chris Muecke studied medicine at Flinders University and graduated in 1991. He then spent three years working at Flinders Medical Centre. In 1984 he worked in Worcester, England as a GP Registrar and at the Worcester Royal Infirmary doing obstetrics for one year. Returning to Australia in 1985, Dr Muecke worked for six months as a locum in Adelaide before his family moved to Renmark. Dr Muecke has spent two brief periods away, working in Adelaide in 2001 and Victor Harbor in 2008. He practices many aspects of rural family medicine, including obstetrics and teaching medical students and registrar doctors.

Dr David Rosenthal
MBBS (Adelaide), DRACOG, FAMA

David Rosenthal has practised as a rural GP in his home town of Renmark in the South Australian Riverland for thirty five years. In addition to accepting a rural clinical workload, including anaesthetics, he is active as Senior Lecturer in rural medical education at the Flinders University, and in a successful local teaching program he is involved with the placement and education of eight medical students who spend their entire third year of study based in general practices in the Riverland. He was foundation President of the South Australian Rural Doctors Association and later a President of the National Rural Doctors Association. David is interested in the construction of rural health care delivery systems and in the education of both medical students and intending rural general practitioners. He is an inaugural  Board member of the Rural Health Education Foundation. He is also Chief Consultant, Safety & Quality for Country Health SA. He has one daughter who is also a doctor and who is preparing for general practice. His interests outside medicine include gardening , fishing, musical performance, and international travel.

 

Dr Nazish Fatima

Dr Nazish Fatima
MBBS, FCPS

Dr Fatima graduated from Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore and then worked in women's health for several years. She and her husband Ali immigrated from Pakistan in 2008 where she started working at the Renmark Clinic. She has two young children, Minahal and Umar. Dr Fatima's favourite leisure activity is reading and spending time with family and friends. Ali enjoys playing cricket and also fishing.

Dr Rotimi Afolabi

Dr Afolabi graduated from the University of Lagos in 1985 and qualified as a surgeon in Nigeria in 1994. He has extensive experience in Nigeria as a general surgeon prior to immigrating to Fiji in 2000. He then moved to Australia in 2007 arriving in Renmark in 2008 where he has worked as a GP. He is married to Comfort and has 4 children whose ages range from 19 to 6 years old.

Dr Afolabi is currently on secondment to Lyell McEwin Hospital, Salisbury, working to obtain his Australian surgical specialist qualification.

DR Pubudu Kulatunga

Dr Kulatunga graduated from the University of Colombo in 2002, working as a medical officer in the fields of anaesthesia, emergency medicine and general practice.

He joins the clinic and is looking forward to pursuing his career in general practice.

His interests include cricket and wildlife. His children form an  important part of his life and he has an appreciation for the spiritual aspects of life.


 

Registrars

Registrars are trainee GPs who are working in our clinic as part of their training program through Sturt Fleurieu GPET. At the completion of their training they attain the qualification of Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice (FRACGP). Alternatively they may receive the Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) which many rural GPs have.

Medical Students

Medical students from Flinders University Rural Clinical School Parallel Rural Clinical Curriculum program spend the whole of their third year studying in our clinic. At the end of this year they sit their final exams so it is a vital part of their training. They work with our doctors assisting with consultations and procedures as well as helping manage hospital patients.
